Unearthing Our Past Consulting, LLC was founded by Mia L. Carey, PhD. She is a historical archaeologist and belonging and mattering facilitator and consultant.

  • 10+ years exp. working in state and federal government sectors; with project development and management; community engagement; preparing and ensuring that detailed reports, presentations, and other print and electronic communications are accessible; and compiling, organizing, and analyzing data and information.

  •  7+ years exp. training and workforce engagement

  • Research Interests: 19th century African American Life and Culture; critical race theory; DC, MD, and VA; Islam in the Black Experience; and zooarchaeology.
